5 reasons why ‘Kochadaiiyaan’s trailer is its biggest enemy
Once
again the release of ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ has been postponed. The trailers are
making the round, and that's the trouble.
Here
are the reasons why making the movie in a 3D animation
format was a mistake (let me clarify that the writeup is based strictly on what
is being shown in those trailer clips; the picture probably looks better and may be as part of a strange marketing strategy that they have
released those horrible looking trailers because they want to pleasantly
surprise the audience that braves them and walks into the theatres to watch the
movie):
1 Money involved: I don’t have
the exact numbers with me, but I heard that huge sums of money were spent on
making this film. With that kind of money, and with technology like Centroid
Motion Capture, one could have made a movie with it.
2 Quality of Animation: It is
politically incorrect to say this, but the animation is simply terrible. The
clips in the trailer look as if they were made by class VI students as part of
their weekly school assignments. I have seen better works on Pogo.
One of the posters of 'Kochadaiiyaan' (Observe the cuboid-like head and extremely tiny upper arm on the bare-bodied Rajnikanth) |
3 The external anatomy of the
characters all seem very wrong – spindly and disproportionate arms (the upper
arms look so tiny, the shoulders look so lean and soft) and legs, badly
designed torsos, cuboids-like heads, plastered hair…and what’s with those
horses??? SPCA should file suits against the film for so badly portraying such
flamboyant creatures.
4 Inevitable comparisons –
Whether the makers of the film like it or not, there is going to be comparison
with other films of this category (this is a pretty elite group) like ‘Avatar’. They should, by now, be in a position to honestly
evaluate their film and know how it scores.
5 Constant postponements – Any
film which has its release date postponed constantly is bound to fail at the
box office. Exceptions to this rule are very rare.
They
could have either stuck to 2D format or simply used the technology to make a
film with real action, instead of animation.
Of
course, it is not my money or efforts, but it hurts my feelings to watch so
much of it getting wasted. Anyway,
like everybody else, I too am excited about Rajnikanth’s new film, ‘Lingaa’.

When Solange Violently Assaulted Jay-Z - Have They Blamed It on George Bush Yet?
Beyonce and Jay-Z, when the former is not quietly watching her sister-in-law violently assault the latter. (Image: Wikipedia Commons) |
Jay-Z is the new face of Male Victims of Domestic Violence in America.
It's bad enough getting beaten up by the wife, but having her sister attack you viciously in the elevator in front of your employee while your wife watches as if she was the one that had ordered the hit - Jay-Z wins the title hands down!
I actually felt sorry for him when, after the first set of violent kicks and punches, he actually picks up his sister-in-law's purse (or whatever it was that she had dropped) and hands it over to her, only to receive a new set of punches a few moments later.
And, Mrs. Carter watched without batting her fake eyelid. She seemed more concerned about her dress.
Just curious, but have they already blamed George W Bush for the assault in the elevator?
